Frances Sproson

Born in England where she completed her Fine Arts degree, Frances Sproson has travelled widely, largely in Europe but including stays in Peru and the Far East.

For three years she studied renaissance art and drawing in Florence, Italy and has recently made her home and studio in Valencia, Spain.

Frances produces work largely inspired by motifs, particularly of the lotus flower, the orchid and sunflower.

Her paintings reflect the influences she has drawn from the Shamanic teachings in Inca and Mayan cultures and to some extent from Hindu and Buddic philosophies.

They provide richly coloured tapestries derived from, not only spiritual symbolism and imagination, but from nature itself.

Much of the work that Frances produces uses colourful geometric shapes to project her feelings.

She works in a very organic way, using motifs as a focus while gathering other visual material and concentrating on deeper interpretations with which to present her thoughts as a completed picture. She works mainly with oils.

Her work continues to receive increasing attention and recognition.
